One of the key dynamics of the discipleship process is doing life together with other people who are on the same "becoming more like Jesus" journey. I'm not sure where the word "vacation" comes from but it may have to do with the idea of vacating something. Actually I looked up the word and it means "the time when an office is vacant or void." As we continue this series on the Beatitudes at LHCB, the words of Jesus also continue to challenge and convict my life! When Jesus says, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy" he is speaking to a crowd of people, despite their economic or class status, who were living under the oppression of the Romans. Their only hope is that they would have a king, a Messiah, who would overthrow the Romans.

| Check Up from the Neck Up - 6/10/2009 |
Last night Kobe Bryant had an incredible first half of basketball, but such a great second half. Lakers lost (personal yay!)! Today, sport's commentators were talking about Kobe having to do a "check up from the neck up" so he can get his mindset right for the next game.

| Rearranging the Furniture - 6/9/2009 |
Growing up my mother was constantly rearranging the furniture in our house; especially the living room. Training! If you're going into the Army, you do "basic training!" Major League Baseball has "Spring Training." Today, my daughter begins her pre-season training for playing volleyball at UCONN.
