Transition Thought 5 Date Posted:9/2/2009 | Transitions are an evolutionary process, emotionally challenging, educational opportunities, event-ful, and... an exercise of faith! And the "faith" I'm referring to is about having "hope-filled" expectations and "seeing those expectations realized" before they actually become reality! It's really the "living by faith, and not be sight" dynamic that the Bible talks about.
What that essentially means is that you are going to have to trust in "steps" that you can't necessarily see from a physical or natural perspective; but you have a keen instinct and "spiritual sight" that enables you to walk out the process or plan. I love that classic scene in one of the Indiana Jones movies where Indie has to step from a ledge out into a chasm and trust that a "bridge" is going to be there, or he's going to plummet to his death! Transitions are often filled with such situations where you have to exercise your faith to believe for something that you can't see in the natural.
Is it risky to exercise your faith like that? Not really if you have the inward certainty and peace that the steps you're about to take are going to lead you down the right path and into the new season for your life. In my opinion, it's actually far more risky to not take the steps you know you should take! If we sincerely believe the "steps of those who want to live right, on the right path, doing the right thing, etc. are ordered by God" then that's not really credible until you actually take the step! Further, if God has ordered it, then you can trust that He has made a way for you; whether it is a bridge of a right relationship, or a stepping stone of a particular event, or a vehicle of opportunity.
The bottom line is that if you are going to move through a transition and into a new season of life, you are going to have to exercise- walk out, run with it, live in faith! | | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | September 2, 2009 | | |
