Transition Thoughts 2 Date Posted:8/26/2009 | Well, I'm back from my "blog-cation!" I took some time off from blogging to work on some other projects that are crucial right now. Anyway, I'd like to continue some things I've learned about "transitions" in life.
The first thing I've learned, as I indicated in the previous blog, is that transition is an evolutionary process of stretching and shaping you for the new/next level or season of life. Here's the second thing I've learned- that transitions are emotionally challenging.
Transitions bring both elation and sadness, oftentimes at the same time! While you anticipate the new season with excitement and anticipation, you look back at where you've been, what you've come through, accomplished, experienced, the people, the places... and it can overwhelm you with so many feelings. If you're not careful, you can almost get bogged down on the "walk down memory lane!" But the fact of the matter is, you can't live in reverse, you can only live by going forward!
Nehemiah says, "the joy of the Lord is your strength." The people of Israel were reflecting on their past and it was very emotional for them because of the many failures of their forefathers. But Nehemiah encourages them that better days lay ahead and they can find strength in that kind of genuine, hope and faith-filled anticipation.
So, even though transitions will be emotionally challenging, you can not only survive them, but you can thrive through them because you're finding strength in your hopes for the future! | | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | August 26, 2009 | | |
